MUD/WTR: Does it live up to the marketing hype?

Image
Sorry Shane, I'm not the market you're after. A little over a week ago, curiosity got the best of me and I pulled the trigger on a 30 serving container of Rise Cacao MUD/WTR. If you haven't heard of MUD/WTR, founder Shane Heath created the recipe as a coffee alternative. It uses mushrooms like Lion's mane, Cordyceps, Chaga, and Reishi to avoid the coffee crash and provide all-day energy, mental clarity, and immune support. As a daily coffee drinker, I thought maybe it's meant for me. Marketing buzzwords like mental clarity caught my attention, and the powers that mushrooms can offer are no joke. Further, the MUD/WTR brand donates to psychedelic research for mental health, and offers a pretty humorous tone in their writing. All things I can appreciate. However, after about 10 days of drinking MUD/WTR, the only real effect it has on me is this: I really miss my coffee.  And that's not just the coffee relapse talking. I'm not the person who drinks coffee all d...

My (not so) Far-Fetched Ideas for My Jeep Wrangler TJ pt. 1

Image
Ever since I bought my Jeep almost four years ago, I've been daydreaming about what I want it to look like, where I want it to take me, and what I want to create with it. Unfortunately for me, the image in my head changes with the days of the week. It's a morphing idea that constantly takes on new mods and purpose. However, there are a few ideas that I can't seem to let go of. Below, I'll share one of the possibilities of what I could do with my Jeep in the months to come. But first, let's talk about my starting point. My 2005 Jeep Wrangler TJ today. It's a mostly stock 2005 Jeep Wrangler in Patriot Blue Pearl with just over 125,000 miles on the clock (it had 89,000 when I bought it). I've done a few mods to it including an exhaust and an intake system , but most of the stuff I've done is making it look like it just rolled off the showroom floor. I switched the wheels it came with for silver MOAB wheels, gave it bigger tires, a new soft top , switched ...

This Is Why Vinyl Is Making A Comeback

Image
"The younger generation will never understand" Or will they? Along with many other young adults who ride the line between Millennial and Gen-Z, I have recently found a fascination with vinyl records. Growing up in a time when you can stream any song imaginable in the snap of a finger has made music feel like less of the gift it once was. However, the decline in popularity of physical music makes me wonder how my kids will experience music. Late 90's/early 00's babies like me are lucky enough to be only one generation removed from the days when vinyl was a main source of entertainment. That means we grew up hearing about it from our parents and seeing it in our grandparents' basement. Although it became obsolete before we were born, it wasn't entirely foreign to us. In my opinion, that is part of the reason why it's starting to increase in popularity. We know that music wasn't always as easily accessible as it is now. We're bored of pulling out our...

How I Lived In My Jeep TJ On A Budget!

Image
Yes! I built a bed in my 2005 Jeep Wrangler TJ for FREE. But first, I'm sure you're wondering WHY I lived in my little Jeep - so let me explain!  First, What Was My Starting Point? I started with a (mostly) stock 2005 Jeep Wrangler TJ. I say "mostly" stock because I did a few modifications to it; Flowmaster exhaust , aFe air intake system , rocker guards , Moab Rubicon rims that I got from Facebook Marketplace and slightly larger-than-stock tires. Other than that, I modified my stock bumper to make a stubby bumper, replaced the shocks, end links, fender flares, headlights and taillights, and replaced the soft top with a new Bestop Replace-A-Top with tinted windows. No lift, no 35" tires, no aftermarket bumpers or winch. My goal was to make this Jeep look like it just rolled off the assembly line. And I had NO PROBLEMS! Below is the Jeep in front of the Great Sand Dunes in Colorado.  Why Did I Live In My Jeep? Simply put, it was my only option. I snagged a summe...

Portable Car Awnings: Better for Camping Than A Permanent Awning?

Image
A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be contacted by offroadinggear.com to do a product review video for my YouTube channel . Excited for the opportunity to do another sponsored video review, I said yes, and the product showed up to my house about a week later. From a conceptual standpoint, a portable car awning is a great option. It's very packable, only 10 pounds, and doesn't require you to permanently install something on your car. However, as soon as I unpackaged all of the contents of the (surprisingly high quality) carrying case, the negatives started to become apparent. Click below to see the review on YouTube! First, I was surprised about the excessive use of material. Although seemingly high quality, there were many places where they could have used less material - saving costs and material at the same time. For example, there were two different nylon bags each holding just two tent stakes. In my opinion, one bag for all 4 stakes would have been sufficient. Another e...
